Mt Maroon, Mt Barney NP. This is one of our favourite mountains to climb. It’s definitely not easy – your legs will be feel the burn 🔥
The trail is 6km return and should take anywhere between 2.5-4 hours in total. The path is relatively easy to follow if you’ve got some navigational skills (not a good one for beginners).
You’ll start the hike walking along a rough dirt path – up & up & up & up & up. You’ll then duck down into a valley and begin climbing up big rocks & boulders to the false summit. Stop to admire the view, but don’t end your hike here. The actually summit is about 20 minutes further.
You’ll know when you’ve reached the top – there’s a big cairn made out of stacked rocks. You’ll be rewarded with views over the ever impressive Mt Barney & Mt May.
